Host Recognized as Top Fundraising Team at Two Company-Sponsored Walks
09/27/2016
In June 2016, Host Hotels & Resorts® raised over $85,000 for the American Cancer Society, and was recognized as the top fundraising team for the Relay for Life of Southern Montgomery Country. Four of Host’s team members made the top 10 list of individual fundraisers. In addition, leftovers from the baked goods drive were donated to the Sandy Spring Fire Department.
“It's hard not to have a huge success, when your foundation is working for a company with such deep EPIC values to community involvement,” said 2016 team captain Kerry Pierce. “It was a privilege to organize and coordinate fundraising alongside such a wonderful group and our team's success is attributed to the generosity of Host and its employees.”
In September 2015, Host participated in the inaugural St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer on the National Mall. Through individual contributions, fundraising events, and more, Host raised over $114,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, and was recognized as the top fundraising team in Washington, DC.
This past July, team captains Karen Miller and Mayadah Fseisi were honored as the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer Team Captains of the Year. Miller and Fseisi travelled to Memphis to accept the award, and received a guided tour of the hospital to see how fundraising efforts contribute to St. Jude’s mission of finding cures for childhood cancer and providing positive environments for the children and their families.
“We could not have done this without Host’s EPIC values. Host recognizes the importance of corporate responsibility and gives its employees the platform, time, and resources to be charitable,” said Fseisi. “It really starts with a great company like ours. I am proud to be an employee of such a generous company.”
Congratulations to Host Happy Feet Teams and Team Captains.
