As of January 25, 2017, Host Hotels & Resorts’ Environmental Management System (EMS) is officially ISO certified. ISO 14001 is an internationally recognized standard that specifies the requirements for an effective EMS.  Companies achieve ISO certification by implementing systems with policies and procedures that align with ISO standards, which are assessed by a 3rd party certification body. LRQA performed the certification for Host. The process to receive the certification began in December 2015, and required a tremendous amount of work to satisfy the stringent ISO requirements. This certification reflects the quality of the environmental aspects of our Corporate Responsibility program and Host’s commitment to improved environmental performance to our various stakeholders.

 

An EMS provides Host with a systematic approach to managing environmental impacts and improving operating efficiencies. A well-designed EMS results in:

• Monetary savings through reduced energy and water consumption

• Reduced GHG emissions

• Reduced waste handling, transport and disposal

• Continuous improvement to drive savings through more efficient use of resources
