Exploring the World of Recycling with Host's Green Team
01/02/2019
On Thursday, November 8, 35 Host employees explored the world of recycling by going on a guided tour of the award-winning Montgomery County Recycling Center organized by Host’s Green Team, a group of environmentally responsible employee volunteers. Attendees got a behind-the-scenes look at the sorting machinery to see how recyclables are processed and learned all about recycling, reuse and waste reduction.
The facility receives an average of 300 tons of recycled material a day, over half of which is mixed paper—and most of the sorting is done by hand. Green Team member Kevin Notter said, “I really had no idea the amount of trash that came into the facility and the amount of work that goes into sorting it for recycling…when you take the tour you are blown away.”
