As the nation’s largest publicly traded lodging REIT, we recognize our role in contributing positively to the social and economic well-being of the broader community and supporting inclusive practices across the value chain—including our suppliers, industry and hotels. We are proud to announce that we have taken another step forward in our commitment to supplier diversity by partnering with Procure Impact—a B2B marketplace that connects corporations with social enterprises that make products that help create social impact—and signing the Dignity of Work (DoW) pledge. Through this partnership, we have committed to creating 1,000 hours of work for underestimated populations through purchases on the Procure Impact Marketplace. This commitment is aligned with our 2030 target of investing 15% of direct capital expenditures spend with diverse suppliers and our 2050 net positive vision of being a catalyst for positive impact in our communities.
DIGNITY OF WORK PLEDGE
The DoW Pledge, led by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and Procure Impact, is designed to create meaningful and life-changing employment opportunities for vulnerable populations. The goal of the pledge is to galvanize the hospitality industry to create 100,000 hours of work for overlooked populations through responsible sourcing and shift millions of dollars into often marginalized communities.
As the first lodging REIT to join the DoW campaign, this pledge reflects our commitment to integrating responsible sourcing and social procurement into our business practices, as well as our focus on community impact by making strategic investments across the areas of education, health, affordable housing, economic opportunity and resilience.
“We applaud Host for taking the pledge,” said Jen Collins, Co-Founder & President of Procure Impact. “Host is a company that consistently celebrates diversity and promotes inclusion across the value chain. We are excited to partner with their incredible team to support their 2030 supplier diversity goal and impact overlooked communities through their purchases.”
PROCURE IMPACT MARKETPLACE
The Procure Impact Marketplace offers a wide variety of products made in the U.S. across categories essential to the hospitality industry, such as custom art, accessories for hotel renovations, corporate gifts and more. Each vendor within this marketplace employs individuals from underrepresented groups—including veterans, refugees, people with disabilities and trafficking survivors, and those who have experienced trauma, such as mental health challenges, poverty, homelessness, addiction and incarceration.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Host’s partnership with Procure Impact allows us to strengthen the diversity and resilience of our supply chain, while also making a tangible difference in the lives of those who face significant barriers to employment, and to contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable economy. We are excited to partner with Procure Impact and the broader hospitality industry to drive meaningful change as we continue to set the bar for social responsibility in our industry.
