In June, Host’s Green Team partnered with Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) to spruce up and beautify the grounds at their Maryland Multicultural Youth Center in Prince George’s County. LAYC serves a diverse community of low-income youth and families through youth centers, school-based sites and public charter schools in Washington, D.C. and Prince George’s County and Montgomery County in Maryland. By providing multi-cultural, comprehensive and innovative programs that address youths’ social, academic and career needs, LAYC’s goal is for every young person who walks through their doors to develop the skills and self-confidence to make a successful transition to adulthood.
Twenty-seven employee volunteers helped mulch and plant shrubs and flowers in the entryway and build a vegetable and herb garden that will be cared for by the youth in LAYC’s after school programs. Together, the group planted:
“Your hard work and dedication have truly transformed our garden into a vibrant and beautiful space,” said Jackie Orellana, Deputy Director, LAYC Prince George’s County. “We are excited to use this garden as a key part of our upcoming summer program, where it will undoubtedly bring joy and inspiration to all participants. Once again, thank you for your generosity and support. Your contribution has made a significant difference, and we are deeply appreciative of your partnership.”
Additionally, the Green Team presented LAYC with a donation to further support the organization’s programs and mission.
