Santa Clara Marriott Recognized by Silicon Valley Power
06/29/2017
In Spring 2017, Silicon Valley Power, owned and operated by the City of Santa Clara, awarded Santa Clara Marriott a rebate check for over $151,000 for upgrading its HVAC system. This project, with additional investments from Host Hotels & Resorts, was completed in August 2016. Temperatures in guest rooms are now controlled through Wi-Fi and sensory enabled thermostats that monitor occupancy. Staff can also remotely prepare a room for arriving guests and disable the system when a room is vacant.
According to Silicon Valley Power, this energy efficiency project is estimated to save the property 230,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity a year, which is equivalent to a reduction of 55 metric tons of CO2 annually.
