Host Employees Hold a Back to School Drive with Big Brothers Big Sisters
09/13/2022
Host’s service team collaborated with our strategic partner, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital Area (BBBSNCA), to help ensure students have the supplies they need to get off to a good start to the year and are set up for academic success. From pencils to paper to binders to calculators, employees filled 100 donated backpacks with school supplies, plus donated enough extra supplies to fill an additional 75 backpacks—for a total of 175 backpacks full of supplies. Carloads of donations were hand-delivered to BBBSNCA just in time for kids to go back to school.
“We here at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital Area are honored to have such a tremendous community partner in Host Hotels & Resorts,” said Tony Duffy, director of fundraising and events at BBBSNCA. “We work with Host on numerous DMV events and initiatives but the contributions we receive from the employees and leadership at Host during our annual back to school drive really shine above all. Most recently we received a personally delivered shipment of bookbags, pens, pencils, notebooks, and just about every other school accessory needed these days! Receiving all of these items allows us to turn around and provide them to our kids for the upcoming school year through community events in the areas we serve. Without a partner like Host, we would not be able to provide these memories; and for that, we are thankful for this partnership.”
