Little Buildings Make a Big Impact

10/31/2023

On October 12, 24 employees from across the company—led by Mike Lentz, our executive vice president of development, design & construction—came together to build playhouses with Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland in Silver Spring. Participants took over the back lot of the Silver Spring Habitat ReStore and spent the day deciphering instructions, assembling the structures and finishing up by painting each playhouse with bright and cheerful colors. Volunteers also took part in an insightful lunch-and-learn led by Habitat team members, who shared more information about the charity and the many programs it offers.

All told, Host’s volunteers built and decorated six playhouses—some of which will be donated to Habitat partner families, others auctioned off to raise funds for the organization’s programs and services and some may even be gifted to local institutions that serve children, including area hospitals.
